If your colleagues are sneaking out for a lunchtime fix it might not be for food.
One third of respondents to a survey released yesterday said they had engaged in a sex act while on their lunch break.
The survey, commissioned by Domino's Pizza, looked at the lunchtime habits of 8715 New Zealanders.
About 70 per cent of respondents said their most memorable lunch break involved a sexual experience.
Others said they had got engaged, discovered they were pregnant, witnessed a car accident, been tattooed and played practical jokes on colleagues.
Some said their ultimate lunch breaks included being whisked away by helicopter to a five-star lunch on a luxury yacht, fulfilling a sexual fantasy or having their boss serve them lunch, while others hoped for something more simplistic like not having to prepare it themselves.
Domino's Pizza general manager Ryan Bohm said the survey revealed some startling habits.
"The results have clearly shown we're a nation of workers who like to have our cake and eat it too. I think there will be a fair few Kiwis keeping a closer eye on their colleagues at lunchtime after reading these results.
"One man said the most memorable thing he did on his lunch break was his wife. But when he answered what he would do on his ultimate lunch break replied: 'Not my wife'.
"One guy said the most memorable thing he'd done at lunchtime was the receptionist. There were a lot along those lines."
The survey was released yesterday as the company launched a new oven-baked sandwich range.
Other indulgences on lunch breaks included reading, doing a crossword, going to the gym, surfing the internet, visiting social networking sites, running personal errands and shopping.
About 58 per cent of people said they made their own lunch each day.
Seventy-five per cent took breaks of 30 minutes or less but 31 per cent did not take a lunch break each day.
Most people eat lunch in their company's lunch room (33 per cent) or at their desk (24 per cent).
The most popular home-made meals were last night's leftovers and sandwiches.
Of those who buy their lunch, most spend $10 to $20 each week on everything from gourmet sandwiches and pies to sushi, salads and fast food.
