KEY POINTS:
The Herald is asking high-profile people about their environmental friendliness.
This week: David Bain supporter Joe Karam
What are you doing personally to make a difference?
I recycle. I'm conscious of newspapers, plastics and glass and I put it all out in the right place so it gets the proper thing done with it.
I compost and I have a vegetable and herb garden.
At the moment I have parsley, silverbeet, broccoli and leeks and all that sort of thing. I don't litter.
If I see rubbish I usually pick it up and stick it in the rubbish bin.
What more could you do?
I could drive an electric car so there's no emissions at all.
What is your biggest environmental sin?
Air miles. I travel round almost constantly, particularly these days.
Global warming - true or false?
My personal view is that it's a cyclical thing more than a man-made thing, but I don't completely rubbish the view that the industrial world has contributed to environmental problems. Obviously I agree it has. However, I'm yet to be convinced that we wouldn't be having changes in climate similar to what we have now even if we were still living as we were 200 years ago.
