We are the world
• A woman who was rushing to a job interview and lost her car when she forgot where she parked it has been reunited with it, thanks to help from the public. Fallon Jerome spent hours searching for where she left her car before appealing to the public for help. Luckily a local saw the story and recognised the car, leading a relieved Jerome back to her car. "In future I will take a picture of where I am parked and write the name of the street down," she said. Hmmm. Probably a good idea.
The key to glitzy driving
German company Selected Jewels is making diamond-encrusted keys.
Exactly how rich do you have to be before the fact that you have a boring, standard key for your luxury and/or supercar becomes an annoyance to you?
German company Selected Jewels has started making keys for Mercedes-Benz that feature your choice of gold or platinum and an array of diamonds.
The company replaces the standard plastic casing with a solid gold or platinum one and then adds 300 diamonds (3.14 carats worth) in the design of your choice. The keys are priced at US$46,000 ($62,400) so don't lose it.
Mint van Mini marvel
This classic 1968 Mini van has been preserved in its original state.
The sales pitch "one lady owner" is true when it comes to this 1968 Mini van that's up for auction at the next Silverstone Auctions event.
Not only that but it has only 302 miles (486km) on the clock and still with the original plastic protectors on the seats!
From the Silverstone Auctions website: "First registered on the 14/03/1968, the van was bought new by a Miss G. Crumcott from Northern Ireland for the mere sum of £400 so that she could learn to drive. She never managed to pass her driving test and this brand new Mini van lay unused in her shed for nearly three decades. It was discovered in this same shed and could not have been preserved in better condition.
"It was eventually purchased by a local BMC Mini dealer and enthusiast Mr T. Turkington in 1997 and placed in the Mini Centre's showroom until 2006. The van was then purchased by a car collector from Northamptonshire and has recently been brought back on to the classic car market."
Banshee is back
Some time back we brought you the news that you could buy the one-off Dodge Viper-based Banshee from the Grand Theft Auto series of video games.
Commissioned by GTA developer Rockstar games as a competition prize, the one-off car was built from a 2006 Viper by West Coast Customs in 2013 and given away in a promotion with game retailer GameStop.
After changing hands once, the vehicle is for sale on Ebay with bidding currently sitting at US$55,000 ($75,000).
The Banshee still packs the Viper's 8-litre V10 engine and, despite what the badging says on the exterior, isn't a twin turbo unit (that was just to match the car in the game). The interior has been modified and boasts a Pioneer stereo with a massive set of subs that fill the boot.
The car is around 500mm longer than a standard Viper due to the body modifications and it all sits on 22-inch alloys.
You know you want it ...
