When the star is the face of Dior and costumes come from Alexander McQueen, a move into fashion seems appropriate - but this movie-fashion extension is more than just branded merchandise.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is released this week, with a capsule collection inspired by the film also being released through luxury online store Net-a-Porter.com. Called Capitol Couture, the 16-piece range has been created by the film's costume designer, Trish Summerville, and includes a sophisticated cocktail dress worn by the character Katniss (played by Jennifer Lawrence), laser-cut leather and statement jewellery.
Fashion director of Net-a-Porter.com Holli Rogers explained of the seemingly unlikely partnership, "Our customers take their style cues from myriad sources, from the latest runway shows and street trends to TV and film. Fashion plays an important role in The Hunger Games series and is especially prevalent in Catching Fire, and fans of the franchise will see the film reference in the collection." Shop the range here.
Fashion plays an important part in the new film, with the character Effie Trinket wearing costumes by Alexander McQueen Couture and sportswear brand Lucas Hugh - founded by New Zealander Anjhe Mules - outfitting the cast in a stylish training kit (pictured above).
Star Jennifer Lawrence is also a fashion favourite - one of the celebrity faces of Dior, the actress has been representing the French fashion house on the red carpet with her many Dior outfits.
