Lanterns of all shapes and sizes will illuminate Auckland Domain for the next three nights.
The annual Auckland Lantern Festival kicked off last night to mark the end of Chinese New Year celebrations.
About 200,000 people are expected to visit the domain to see hundreds of lanterns on display until Sunday night.
This year is the Year of the Dog, the 11th of 12 zodiac signs and considered to be the most loyal, faithful and friendly.
