Luxury to me is having the food hassles sorted and the supermarket avoided, so the idea of My Food Bag's Christmas menu really appeals. Everything you need to look like you planned a generous spread for seven to nine people comes delivered to your door ahead of the day, complete with easy-to-follow recipes.
Having sampled the My Food Bag Gourmet weekly service for two, I can attest to the quality and inventiveness of the food of this Auckland-based venture begun by former MasterChef winner and dietitian Nadia Lim. The gourmet and larger family packs are ideal if you like eating healthy food but lack the time and imagination to get it all together.
Now Christmas is sorted for $289. The special Christmas edition food bag feeds 7 to 9 people, and includes salmon canapes, antipasto, mains of ham and turkey with all the trimmings with new season pototoes, green beans, asparagus and salads, followed by a pavlova with seasonal fruit.
Canapes: hot smoked salmon and herb pate; cold smoked salmon crostini with horseradish creme fraiche and antipasto feta and basil crostini.
Mains: Pineapple and brandy glazed free-range ham and roast free-range turkey with cherry, sage and cashew nut stuffing.
