Q: A comment on your column last week:
A really prudent person would give trustee companies a wide berth. Their duty of care seems to be to their own profit.
I made the mistake of forming a family trust with trustee executors.
After being gouged mercilessly for a number of years, I finally discharged them, for which they charged me $750.
I don't want - in either this answer or the previous one - to reopen the whole family trust can of worms again. We did it, with a capital D, not long ago.
But your point is a good one. The costs of running a family trust are not negligible.
