The Northland man who gained national notoriety as "the Buttcrack Bandit'' has been refused bail in another court appearance this week.
Lane Lewis Junior Toto, 28, appeared in the Kaitaia District Court on Wednesday on a charge of burglary relating to a break-in at the Houhora Liquor Centre on Christmas Eve.
Toto was captured on the liquor store's CCTV cameras as he was bending down to lift a box of bottles from the chiller, displaying a striking builder's crack as his shorts slipped down past his cheeks.
The image went viral after Senior Constable Tracee Knowler posted it on the Houhora police Facebook page, the publicity leading to a number of tip-offs and Toto's arrest on February 22.
He was denied bail in his latest court appearance on March 13. He is due back in court on May 1.
