Thanydha Intarangkun, 36, of Thailand, also known as Koy Thanida, was a nurse studying English at the King's Education language school in the CTV building.

She died when the building collapsed during the earthquake.

Following the earthquake, Thai newspaper The Bangkok Post reported that Koy's father, pensioner Ruangyut Intarangun, had not heard from his daughter since the earthquake.

"We have tried to contact her, but we cannot reach her or any of her friends. We are so worried," said Mr Intarangun.

He said he had given information about Koy's skin blemishes to the Providence Education Group - the overseas educational service provider that facilitated her travel to New Zealand.

Friend Eve Wilson, who worked with Koy at the Galangal Thai Restaurant in Cashel Street and had known her for about a year before the earthquake, said in the wake of the disaster that she was anxious about her friend.

"We're just worrying."
