Two British tourists have recovered valuables stolen from their van at the weekend by texting the thieves and asking for them back.
Jake Graham and Jess Kelly lost their passports, tickets, bags, clothes and photographs from eight months of travelling when their van was broken into in New Plymouth on Sunday.
Ms Kelly then got her sister to text her stolen cellphone and ask the thieves to put the valuables in an obvious place.
The couple's passports, photo cards and various travel documents were found in a post box yesterday.
