The psychiatric evaluation of the Malaysian diplomat facing sexual assault charges in New Zealand has reportedly been completed.
The Malaysian news website Malaysiakini reported yesterday that Armed Forces chief General Zulkifeli Mohd Zin said the psychiatric evaluation of Muhammad Rizalman bin Ismail was complete. The website said when exactly Rizalman would be sent back to New Zealand was still unknown, and depended on the Malaysian Foreign Affairs Ministry and Attorney-General, and the two countries.
Rizalman was arrested on May 9 and charged with following a 21-year-old Wellington woman home and assaulting her.
He was arrested the same night and charged the next day in the Wellington District Court.
The Attorney-General, Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, told the Rakyak Post on August 6 that a lawyer would be sent to advise the disgraced diplomat when he stood trial.
