A bill that will make it illegal to finance terrorism was passed today.
Sitting under urgency, Parliament passed the Terrorism Suppression Amendment Bill (No 2) which provides for the offence to finance terrorism.
Other provisions in the bill include designating organisations as terrorist for five years based on a list provided by the United Nations Security Council. They then come under counter-terrorism provisions in New Zealand law.
