For the next budding Kiwi Serena Williams or Roger Federer, former New Zealand tennis player Niki Tippins is running an action-packed tennis programme for the school holidays.
The All Active programme is run at the Campbells Bay Tennis Club to teach kids basic co-ordination and skills.
* Hip-hop and orchestral music may not seem to go together to the average listener, but the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra will be blending the two in the Remix the Orchestra school holiday programme.
The week-long programme that began on Monday will try to develop abilities in music technology, composition and performance by merging the two musical disciplines.
Teachers include artists such as Anonymouz, Living Rhythm, and DJ Poroufessor. The programme is held at the Otara Music and Arts Centre.
* Children now have the chance to don white gloves and handle exhibits and precious collections to discover how museums really work as part of Sharing Secrets at Auckland War Memorial Museum. * "It's not yellow, it's not cute, it honks!" An on-stage rendition of the Ugly Duckling is being held at the Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna. It is your chance to see an classic children's story acted out with great props. The play runs from 10am-12pm from September 29 to October 3.
* Kelly Tarlton's has launched Turtle-Topia - a rare chance for children and parents to marvel at the wonders of various species of endangered turtles with interactive activities and exhibits. It runs every day until November 16 from 9am. Family passes cost $50.90.
* The AkActive programme is running a self-defence class for girls aged from 13-18 from 12-2pm at the Onehunga Community Centre.
