Troublesome tenants may now be booted out more easily after Housing NZ won a second court battle to evict families with gang links.
In March, five partners of Mongrel Mob members in Farmers Cres in Pomare in the Hutt Valley were given notice to vacate after a neighbour left her state house saying she had been terrorised by gang members.
Subsequently three of the women in Farmer Cres lost a battle in the Tenancy Tribunal and on Tuesday the Lower Hutt District Court dismissed a legal aid-funded appeal against eviction. The remaining two women have left the street.
Housing NZ said it was determined to evict the three women and would refer the matter to court bailiffs and the police.
