Katharine Wraight says she moved out of her Auckland rental because her landlord was entering the flat without notice.
She said she realised she was doing so soon after moving in because items had been moved and the telephone book taken.
"The landlord treated my place as her own because it was attached to her house. When I approached her about it, she evicted me," she said.
On one occasion the landlord phoned her at work to say she was letting an electrician into the flat, but refused to wait 30 minutes for Wraight to come home to accompany them.
Wraight objected, and said the following day was given notice to leave. She left without raising a dispute.
"I decided the relationship had turned sour and there was no point pursuing it."
