KEY POINTS:
Motorists will have to ease off their accelerators as 40 km/h speed limits are introduced around two North Shore primary schools this week.
Target Road and Pinehill schools will become the first in the city to get temporary speed zones for about half an hour each morning and afternoon, notified by electronic signs, as children arrive and leave.
Similar schemes will be introduced at seven other Auckland schools and two in Waitakere City before July.
