Thousands of TelstraClear customers in Christchurch are offline after a software glitch.
TelstraClear spokeswoman Diane Robinson said about half of the company's internet clients in Christchurch were affected by the problem but over 1400 had been reconnected by 1.30pm.
She said the company had fixed the problem.
Asked if all of the customers would be back online today, Ms Robinson said: "as soon as possible".
"All hands are on deck," she said.
Ms Robinson said the company was focused on fixing the problem and had not yet looked into possible compensation.
