Child abuse will be the subject of a hard-hitting package of television programmes to be broadcast next month.
The broadcast funding agency New Zealand On Air today announced funding for the programmes - a drama and a studio discussion - to screen on TV3.
Called Killing Tomorrow, the programme will follow the format of last year's Questions, which focused on youth suicide.
Killing Tomorrow will focus on three stories involving children who are victims of violence in the home.
NZ On Air says the programmes "pull no punches in showing the situations of the children, who are suffering in the hands of their 'caregivers'".
The studio discussion will provide an opportunity for experts to discuss issues around child abuse. Viewers will find out how to identify the warning signs or recognise their own actions and learn where to go for help.
NZ On Air has allocated $435,580 to Screentime-Communicado for a one-hour drama and $89,215 for the one-hour studio discussion.
