KEY POINTS:
Compensation for the thousands of Telecom broadband users whose internet services were affected by problems with a remote access node (RAN) will be assessed on a case by case basis, the company says.
More than 10,000 Telecom customers have been affected by the outage yesterday and have experienced intermittent service loss since.
The broadband service had been progressively restored this afternoon and services for the remaining affected customers should be running normally later tonight, Telecom said.
The company said it would assess compensation for its own customers on a case by case basis, and customers with other ISPs would need to contact their individual service providers for more details.
Dial-up, mobile broadband and landline services were not affected and broadband for all other customers was running as usual.
The affected RAN services customers of a number of ISPs, based in parts of Wellington, parts of the eastern North Island and parts of the South Island.
