A 14-year-old Christchurch girl has been left with fractured facial bones after her head was trapped between the road and a rolled ute.
The girl was a passenger in the 4WD when it rolled in Mason Flat, near North Canterbury, trapping her head underneath the vehicle's roll bar.
Westpac Helicopter said staff from a logging company helped emergency services to remove the ute. The girl was then treated for serious injuries at the scene and flown by helicopter to Christchurch Hospital, where she is in a stable condition.
A spokesman for the rescue helicopter said the girl had a "very lucky" escape.
