The death of a teenager whose body was found partially submerged in the Hutt River is being treated as unexplained, police say.
A member of the public discovered the body, believed to be a teenage male, at the riverside carpark in Lower Hutt just before 8am.
The body was clothed and partially out of the water near the east side of the river, police said.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton of Lower Hutt Police said the death was being treated as unexplained while officers carried out a scene examination.
A pathologist was at the scene and the body was expected to be removed soon to undergo a post-mortem examination, Mr Thorton said.
