KEY POINTS:
Three teenagers have been arrested over the aggravated robbery of a pizza delivery man in Porirua on Saturday night.
The 34-year-old victim was tricked into delivering a pizza to Bedford Street, Cannons Creek, where his attackers lay in wait for him.
He was smashed over the head with a bottle, knocked to the ground and threatened.
The offenders stole the pizza, the $55 he was carrying, and then stole his car keys and car which was later found burnt out near the boatsheds at Titahi Bay.
The victim staggered to nearby Cannons Creek shopping area where he was helped by a passerby and taken to hospital for treatment for cuts and bruises to his head.
He moved to New Zealand from China six years ago and worked part time delivering pizzas while studying for an information technology degree at Whitireia Polytechnic (Porirua).
Two 16-year-old men and a 19-year-old woman have been arrested over the incident.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam, of Porirua CIB, said information from the public had helped with the arrests.
Police are still investigating the burning of the victim's green 1994 Nissan Sentra 5-door hatch, registration UI 3120, and would like to hear from anyone who saw the car late on Saturday night.
Mr Oxnam said the victim was recovering well and had been touched by the generosity of members of the public who have offered him the loan of a vehicle.
The three youths were jointly charged with aggravated robbery and were to appear in Porirua Youth Court this afternoon.
