KEY POINTS:
Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with the aggravated robbery of two South American tourists at Taipa Beach in the Far North last week.
Kaitaia police Senior Sergeant Gordon Gunn said the arrests were made after five search warrants were executed in the Kaeo area this morning by police from Kaitaia, Kaikohe and Kerikeri.
Three males aged 14, 15 and 17 were jointly charged with aggravated robbery and a 15-year-old girl was charged with receiving property stolen in the robbery.
" A substantial amount of the stolen property has been recovered and an air pistol believed to have been used in the robbery has also been recovered," Mr Gunn said.
The investigation was continuing and it was likely the four would face further charges, he said.
All four were appearing in Kaitaia District Court this afternoon.
