A second teenager has won a new trial after he was convicted this year of bashing a Hamilton beneficiary to death.
The Court of Appeal today quashed Shane Neville Barlow's conviction for murdering Robert Lockhart, 46, who was kicked and punched to death in August, 2003.
Barlow was 16 at the time.
His co-accused Hayden Tukaki, 18, earlier had his murder conviction overturned and new trial ordered.
Both teenagers had been sentenced to life in prison.
The court, which sat in Auckland today, said the reasons for its decision to quash the conviction against Barlow and order a new trial could not be published.
Both teens were likely to face a new trial in Auckland early next year.
The prosecution alleged the two youths killed Mr Lockhart apparently after an argument over a cask of wine.
