An 18-year-old woman who wandered into traffic and lay down in the middle of the road before being struck and killed by a car in south Auckland has been named by police.
Papakura resident Courtney Jane Mower had been travelling in a vehicle in Drury before she got out and stepped into a lane on State Highway 22 about 8pm Wednesday.
Sergeant Paul Latham of the Counties Manukau police serious crash unit said Ms Mower walked in front of several vehicles before lying down in the middle of the road.
She was struck and run over by another vehicle.
Serious crash investigators carried out interviews with witnesses at the scene.
