A Hamilton teenager led police on a high speed chase reaching speeds of 120km/h before he was caught early this morning.
The 16-year-old, who did not have a licence and was behind the wheel of a stolen car, sped away from police after they responded to calls about a silver station wagon acting suspiciously around the Masters Ave Superette about 3.45am.
He reached speeds of 120km/h as he sought to avoid converging police and road spikes, Senior Sergeant Craig Taylor said.
He was finally brought to a stop on Marshall Street, Mr Taylor said.
The teenager taken into custody and was due to appear in Hamilton District Court later today.
