A 17-year-old is in Waikato Hospital's intensive care unit following an accidental shooting in Hamilton today.
A police spokesman said officers attended an incident in the Chartwell-Fairfield area of the city after reports of a gunshot.
The shot turned out to be from an accidental shooting, he said.
A Waikato District Health Board spokeswoman said the man had been admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit in a serious, but stable condition.
