A teenager faces criminal charges after allegedly using a hammer and baseball bat to cause havoc in his family home.
The teenager, 16, reportedly arrived at his Whangarei home intoxicated at 12.30am yesterday and, when he was refused a cigarette, he "chased his older brother with a hammer and took to the house with a steel baseball bat and smashed a bedroom window", Whangarei police constable Wayne Kelman said.
No-one was injured but the boy has been charged with assault with a weapon and wilful damage and will appear in Whangarei District Court this week.
