KEY POINTS:
Police have made a new arrest over a brawl outside south Auckland liquor store two weeks ago, which resulted in the controversial arrest of the store's owner.
Counties Manukau police spokeswoman Ana-Mari Gates-Bowey confirmed today a 15-year-old faced four charges following the fight outside the Gilbert Rd liquor store in Otara on September 30.
His arrest came more than a week after the 40-year-old shop owner, Varinder Singh Bains, who was stabbed during the altercation, was arrested on two charges of injuring with intent to injure.
The arrest of Bains, who said he was defending himself, prompted police to warn shop owners fearful of their safety from attackers that they could not use excessive force when defending themselves.
