A 13-year-old has pleaded guilty to murdering his caregiver who died almost instantly after being shot at her rural Taranaki house in April.
Jordan Nelson entered the plea at New Plymouth High Court today and his name suppression was subsequently lifted.
The shooting took place at the 50-year-old caregiver's house in Okoki at 3.30pm on April 15.
Police stopped a vehicle, which was driven from the property, near Waitara soon afterwards.
A gun was recovered at the scene and police were spoke to family members believed to have been present when the shooting occurred.
