KEY POINTS:
Police are appealing for information following an alleged sexual attack on a teenager in Palmerston North yesterday afternoon.
The 17-year-old Japanese woman was walking along the Bridal Track beside the Manawatu River when she was followed, then attacked by a Maori man in his twenties.
Detective Todd McLoughlin said the attack took place in the area near Wikiri Crescent, between 1pm and 2.30pm.
The woman was wearing black trousers, pink jandals and a multi-coloured cardigan. She had a slim build and shoulder-length black hair.
Her attacker was of medium build, wearing a white baseball cap with dark lettering on the front, a dark blue hoodie and blue jeans.
Police would like to speak with anyone who saw either the woman or a man fitting this description.
