A teenager has been rescued after she was injured on a tramp with her scout group.
The 17-year-old had tripped on a tree root and badly injured her lower leg while tramping in the Kamai Ranges, near the settlement of Te Poi.
The Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was dispatched to the area at 6.30pm.
A Landsar team carried the tramper to a place where the helicopter could land, while St John paramedics stabilised her.
She was flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.
