A teenage girl was dragged onto a grass verge in Auckland and sexually assaulted by an unknown attacker on Friday night.
The 15-year-old girl was walking home along Coronation Rd in the Mangere Bridge area when her attacker grabbed her at the intersection with Mountain Rd about 10pm.
The man proceeded to physically and sexually assault the girl before she managed to fight free and escape, police said.
Detectives are investigating the assault and are keen to speak with two female occupants of a dark-coloured vehicle that the victim attempted to flag down on oronation Rd after her ordeal.
The offender is described as a male Polynesian, aged between 20 and 30 with very short hair and a small build. He wore a grey hooded sweatshirt with front pockets and black writing on the front and black pants.
