New Plymouth police have arrested a teenage girl over the violent bashing of a man with a wheel brace early on Sunday morning.
The 19-year-old man was walking alone along Devon St East towards Fitzroy, when he was attacked about 12.10am on Sunday.
He was bashed about the head with a tyre iron, then fell, or was pushed, through a shop window.
He spent some time in the Taranaki Base Hospital intensive care unit but was released yesterday.
Sergeant Thomas McIntyre said a 17-year-old girl turned herself in about 8.30pm on Sunday.
She had been charged with injuring with intent to injure and bailed to appear in New Plymouth District Court on Thursday.
Police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the assault at this stage, he said.
