KEY POINTS:
A teenage girl has been arrested following a string of fires which damaged houses in the northern Hawkes Bay town of Wairoa over the past few days.
Detective Sergeant Mick Lander said a house in Kabul St was extensively damaged in a suspicious fire on Wednesday, while two others in McLean St and Marine Parade suffered the same fate yesterday.
He said a 17-year-old girl was arrested last night and charged with burglary and arson relating to the fires.
She was being held in custody and will appear tomorrow in Gisborne District Court.
