A 15-year-old Napier boy has been sent to prison for four years for deliberately pushing a man into the path of an oncoming taxi and home invasion.
The boy appeared in the Napier District Court this morning for sentencing after pleading guilty to the charges in the Youth Court earlier this year.
The court heard during a street assault in Milton Rd in February the boy shoulder charged a man into the path of a taxi. The man was so badly injured he now has a severe limp, ongoing headaches and cannot work.
The court also heard the boy was involved in a home invasion in Napier earlier this year where he kicked down the front door of a house and demanded money from the victim.
Judge Geoff Rae told the teenager he needs to realise the community will not put up with people who treat others in this way.
