A 13-year-old tramper with suspected neck injuries has been rescued by helicopter from a rugged area of Fiordland National Park.
Inspector Bob Palmer of the police southern communications centre said emergency services were alerted shortly before 1pm yesterday that a boy had been injured on the Hanging Valley Track near Deep Cove, Te Anau. A helicopter flew the boy to Kew Hospital in Invercargill.
