Police are seeking help after a 10-year-old boy reported that a teenager threatened to tie him up with chain.
The boy said he was approached as he was walking to the toilets at Hamilton West Primary shortly before noon.
The teenager led him a short distance to some trees and produced a chain before being disturbed by a couple walking down a nearby street.
Detective Sergeant Robbie Hermann of the Waikato CIB said the boy, who was not harmed, returned to the class and raised the alarm.
Police are working with the school and partner agencies to ensure he and his family get support.
