A 17-year-old who helped ransack a Featherston home pleaded guilty to burglary in Masterton District Court last week.
Police prosecutor Nick Newbery told the court how, on July 25, Luke Vincent Herrick and an unknown number of associates used a piece of wood to break a glass door panel and gain entry to a Featherston home.
Once inside they ransacked the master bedroom and took a .22 rifle from the wardrobe.
A 55-inch television, two cameras and several rings were among the items stolen.
A quilt from the bedroom was used to cover the TV and was abandoned along a bush track, at the back of a nearby property, Mr Newbery said.
