A teenage girl suffered burns in a fire in the central North Island this evening.
The incident occurred in Taihape about 6pm.
Due to bad weather she was transported by ambulance to nearby Ohingaiti from where she was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Palmerston North-based rescue helicopter pilot Lance Burns, of the Philips Search and Rescue Trust, was not able to confirm how the girl had been burned and St John Ambulance could not be reached for comment.
Immediately after dropping off the girl, the helicopter was dispatched to Tangimoana for a man in his 60s with a medical emergency.
