A teenager seriously injured after falling down a six-metre bluff at Mercer Bay at Piha yesterday afternoon is making progress in Auckland's Starship Hospital.
The 14-year-old's head and shoulders were hanging over a seven-metre drop when he was found at around 12.30.
A party of young trampers assisted a rescue crew in getting the boy off the bluff.
The boy was airlifted to Starship in a serious condition but a hospital spokeswoman says this morning he is stable.
