Napier police are looking for a teenager who pulled a woman under trees and assaulted her early on Sunday morning.
The woman was walking home from a party between midnight and 1am in the suburb of Maraenui when she was approached by the man, who then began to follow her, Detective Constable Sarah Williams said.
The attacker, described as being a tall and thin Maori man, aged around 16 and wearing a white T-shirt, then pulled her under trees near the intersection of Riverbend Road and Morris Spence Avenue.
Police were unsure about the nature of the assault and would be speaking to the victim today, Ms Williams said.
She said police wished to speak to anyone who saw a man fitting the description near the area at the time.
