Teen shot in Christchurch

A teenager is in hospital after a shooting incident near Christchurch last night.

St John Ambulance says it was called to a Rolleston address just before midnight.

A spokesman says it appears a pistol went off accidentally, went through the wall of a garage and struck a 15-year-old girl.

She is understood to be in a comfortable condition in hospital.

Police are investigating.
