The 13-year-old from North Taranaki charged with the shooting death of his caregiver was further remanded to a secure facility at the New Plymouth Youth Court today.
Dressed in the same black T-shirt, baggy black trackpants and grey canvas laceless sneakers he wore at his first court appearance on Monday, the slightly built defendant twisted his hands nervously amid legal arguments about finding suitable accommodation for him.
He did not acknowledge the four adults in the spectators gallery.
Defence lawyer, Patrick Mooney, originally asked for a further appearance on May 4 and said bail would be applied for on the basis of an appropriate home being found for the boy in the meantime.
Judge Josephine Bouchier brought forward the hearing by a day to fit the Youth Court schedule.
