A teenager was pursued by police for more than 3km in a high-speed chase because he panicked and did not want to lose his licence, the Nelson District Court has heard.
Andrew Peter Snell, 18, a Motueka labourer, admitted charges of reckless driving, failing to stop for police and driving while suspended when he appeared in court on Tuesday.
Judge Paul Whitehead fined him $550 and disqualified him from driving for eight months.
