A 15-year-old boy is being spoken to by police following the death of a man in Tokoroa yesterday.
Police were called to an assault at a house in the Waikato town about 4am and said a man had since died.
The death appeared to have been the result of an altercation between the deceased, aged 36, and another family member, Detective Sergeant Greg Standen of Tokoroa police said in a statement yesterday. Early indications were that a weapon was used and a 15-year-old family member was being spoken to.
"The name of the deceased will not be released until the next of kin have been informed," Inspector Karen Wilson from the police northern communications centre in Auckland said.
The homicide team was still working at the scene.
