Teen on Whangarei murder charge remanded

A 16-year-old boy charged with murdering a Whangarei man appeared in the town's youth court this morning.

He was remanded in custody until December 15.

The youth was arrested yesterday and charged with murdering Stanley Victor Wells.

Mr Wells, 41, died in Whangarei Hospital on Saturday afternoon of massive head injuries after being attacked near his home in suburban Otangarei on Friday night.

The investigation is continuing and police have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests.
