A teenager charged with the stabbing death of a 14-year-old high school student has been in court in Auckland today as crown prosecutors open their bid to have him tried for murder.
The youth appeared at a depositions hearing in the Auckland Youth Court after the death last year of Manaola Kaumeafaiva outside a church event at Avondale College last October.
The 16-year-old cannot be named. The depositions hearing was to decide if he would go to the High Court in Auckland to be tried for murder.
The hearing was scheduled to last five days.
