A teenage murder accused has been remanded into special welfare custody until Tuesday in a brief appearance in court today.
The youth was charged with the stabbing murder of 22-year-old shop a assistant, Saishwar Krishna Naidu in his parents' south Auckland dairy yesterday.
He appeared briefly in the Manukau Youth Court and was remanded to the Child, Youth and Family Northern Residential Centre. His name cannot be published.
He was arrested after members of the public chased him from the dairy and tackled him.
Mr Naidu's distraught family watched as ambulance officers vainly battled to save his life.
He was thought to have tried to stop an aggravated burglary in the shop when he was stabbed several times.
