A teenage motorcyclist is dead after crashing on a Bay of Plenty road this afternoon.
The 19-year-old male suffered serious head injuries in the 2pm crash, on Mataatua Road in Ruatahuna, 90km west of Gisborne.
He died before a rescue helicopter and ambulance arrived at the scene, Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter spokesman Todd Dunham said.
